11 Firms, Two Individuals Win Big At Ghana Fintech Awards 2021
- Zeepay carts home the topmost prize
Eleven prominent organizations and two individuals saw their stars shine brightly at the Ghana Fintech Awards 2021 as they carted home various awards created for the fintech industry in the country.
It was the inaugural edition of the awards and held at the Best Western Hotel in Accra, the country’s capital city, and it acknowledged the achievements of the industry players towards the advancement of the country’s financial and technology space with awards given in different categories.
Zeepay Ghana Limited was awarded the Fintech Company of the Year for its remarkable role in developing innovative products/services and its impact in fostering financial inclusion in the fintech ecosystem.
Dede Afriyie Quarshie, general manager of Zeepay Ghana Limited and Andrew Takyi, managing director of Zeepay, emerged fintech personalities of the year for the female and male categories respectively.
Paybox, a mobile payment platform, was honoured as fintech start-up of the year for its entrepreneurial success achieved in less than three years.
BPC Banking Technologies was awarded the Leading Payments Technologies Service Provider 2021, while Panamax Incorporation emerged Leading Solutions Provider 2021.
The Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems (GhiPPs) was awarded the Fintech and Bank Partnership of the Year award, while Kudigo, a technology solution startup for informal and micro retail businesses received the Fintech and Non-bank Partnership of the Year award.
Clydestone Ghana Limited emerged IT/Tech Firm of the Year, while Insurerity Digital was awarded Insurtech of the Year.
Other winners at the event included; Kwidex, an agricultural services platform, was awarded Agritech of the Year; Mpharma, a health tech startup, received the Healthcare of the Year award; and Blossom Academy was recognised as Edutech of the Year.
Speaking at the occasion, Segun Aina, president of the African Fintech Network (AFN), said the event came at an appropriate time considering the rising number and impact of the over-70 Fintech companies and startups operating in the country.
Aina commended Arkel Consult and Abjel Communications, organisers of the event, for having identified the economic contribution of the fintech startups and companies and deciding to recognise their efforts by hosting this event.
He assured that AFN will look forward to advancing the Ghana Fintech Association and will be happy to support the sustenance of the Ghana Fintech Outlook Conference and Awards as an annual ecosystem event in partnership with the Ghana Fintech Association.
In his remarks, Martin Kwame Awagah, director of Arkel Consult and Management Services Limited, expressed appreciation to Panamax Inc., Zeepay Ghana Limited, BPC Banking Technologies, Brassica Pay, EziPay, DreamOval, MTN Mobile Money Limited, Pavelon.com, People’s Pension Trust and Tarragon Edge, the official sponsors of the ceremony.
Awagah also congratulated shortlisted nominees and the winners for their efforts in promoting the growth of the country’s fintech space.
