Gaining experience is one of the biggest issues for young adults transitioning into the workforce. Employers in today’s labour market rely heavily on resumes that illustrate a relevant work history, whether that’s from internships, volunteer work, or actual job experience.

A Master Class on the “Importance of Internship and Community Service for Professional Development”, by the Girls Education Initiative of Ghana (GEIG) in partnership with Webster University’s “Women Who Inspire Us”, was sponsored by Tarragon Edge.

Tarragon Edge is a Capacity-Building and SME Advisory Consultancy, focusing on two key growth areas namely, SMEs and Career Development for young professionals. We aim at helping SMEs understand and implement systems and processes that will foster their growth. We also help students, the youth and young professionals to develop rewarding careers through our training, mentoring and internship programmes which are in line with the theme of GEIG.

Mrs Genevieve Duncan-Obuobi was one of the panelists at the Masterclass. She is an experienced banker with expertise in relationship and wealth management, a career planning trainer and student coach as well as a consultant to Tarragon Edge gave practical examples to the importance of interning. She spoke about how internship enables young adults to gain first-hand exposure to working in the real world. This allows students to harness the skill, knowledge, and theoretical practice they learnt in tertiary institutions. Being an intern gives you more opportunities to build connections with company professionals that can be very beneficial for your future career.

Tarragon Edge was privileged to be part of a workshop whose goals are in line with one of its key focus areas, Career Development for young professionals.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator border_width=”2″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”“Empowering Women through Financial Inclusion: Barriers and Way Forward”” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:center|color:%233b0b40″ use_theme_fonts=”yes”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”full_width_background” bg_image=”4068″ bg_position=”center center” parallax_bg=”true”][vc_column width=”1/6″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_empty_space height=”500px”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/6″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Tarragon Edge partners The Young Politicians and Leaders Network (YPLN) for an Executive Women’s Forum with the theme “Advancing Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality Towards Africa’s Agenda 2063”.

These discussions focused on the personal and professional development of women by providing action tips on financial barriers.

Other topics discussed included “Women leaders of today bring forward the leaders of tomorrow” and “Women in Corporate Leadership”- Is there ambition in our corporate culture?”. These provided insight to the importance of providing women and girls with equal access to education, health care, decent work, and representation in political and economic decision-making processes to fuel sustainable economies and benefit societies and humanity.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
